Steam Whistle Biergärten

Steam Whistle’s new biergarten in Toronto is definitely giving major European vibes with its communal style hall, self serve ordering, and high ceilings adorned with real plants. This beer hall also offers authentic German food by Food Dudes which brings me right back to my travels in Berlin. In Berlin, we tried Curry36’s famous Currywurst. Here at Steam Whistle we gave their Bratwurst a try which … Continue reading Steam Whistle Biergärten

October 2018

This month I really loved being able to easily access anything in the city. It felt refreshing to be able to walk out for dessert or grab drinks on a whim (without worrying who the designated driver is!). This is such a novelty for me as I lived in Markham for probably 15 years, where going anywhere required driving.

Here’s my October round up:

DOMA Toronto Tasting Menu

Doma a French inspired Korean restaurant is the first-time endeavor of Chef Paul Kim from Seoul, Korea. Their menu changes slightly each month by incorporating new items and rolling forward a few popular items from the previous menu.

For $65 per person, you can experience their 9-course tasting menu which is effectively also their entire monthly offerings. Great deal!

I went in the month of May and some of their popular entree type items are still currently available on their menu this month. Continue reading “DOMA Toronto Tasting Menu”

CHILL Ice House

Had a girls night out a few weeks ago at CHILL Ice House which was extremely ironic because at the time we were experiencing freezing rain so it was icy everywhere outside. I can only imagine that must have been why they had a sale on Groupon. For $72.00 CAD you could get entrance and a speciality ice shot for 6 people –  only $12 each. Which was a great deal since entrance alone regularly is $20.00 CAD.

CHILL Ice House is also conjoined with Gatsby’s Tale Speakeasy so when you feel too cold and need a break from all the chilliness (it’s about -5 degrees Celsius but you are provided with optional cape and gloves), you can relax at the speakeasy which is very hunting lodge/ cottage style themed and not to mention cozy! Why I Went Dog-Sledding and Didn’t Like It

In my childhood, I was obsessed with Balto, a sled dog who led the final leg of a serum run in Alaska to combat an outbreak – and thus deemed a hero. I thought he was the coolest thing ever and dreamed of being pulled around in a toboggan by my own very Balto.

Last month I realized my dog sledding dreams with Toronto Adventures. Their location was about 1.5 hours away, a bit north of Mt. St. Louis and the day included about an hour of dog sledding and an hour of optional snow shoeing. Continue reading “Why I Went Dog-Sledding and Didn’t Like It”

Tapas Only.

Had a girls date with my friend Karen at Tapagria a few weeks ago where we decided to go all out and order whatever tapas we wanted without caring about the price XD

I’ve only been to Tapagria once with a few friends over a year ago and didn’t get too many of their tapas as we got a large paella to share, so it was nice to finally try more of their menu.

$5.00 Sangrias on Thursdays too! Continue reading “Tapas Only.”

Korean Sauna in Toronto

I went to Korea a few years ago and had the authentic Korean sauna experience at Itaewon Land and have always been wanting to visit the one in Toronto. I was never able to rope anyone to go with me normally since it IS a bit pricey for what it is – sitting around in a hot room for $25.

And finally now years after, I had my chance. Or rather, I created that chance by making it part of my birthday celebration activities 😛 Thanks everyone for being a good sport to try it out!! Continue reading “Korean Sauna in Toronto”
