Learnt Curling! I was Vice-Skip!

Unionville Curling Club hosted a free ‘Learn to Curl’ event a few weeks ago and I signed myself right up. Canada’s pretty amazing at curling during Winter Olympics and my favourite Japanese boyband Arashi plays (a non-ice version) it on their game show – so I had to give it a shot. I considered going by myself but luckily some of my friends were also intrigued. We can never say no to things that are free.

I think organisational wise they could have done better, it was advertised as a 2 hour time slot but they made it into 2 different sessions separately. And there were too many people per lane where instead of the regular 4 vs. 4, my lane ended up being 5 vs. 4.  BUT, it seems an hour was just enough.

We had half an hour of a mini lecture and practice of just doing the poses / motion of curling and sweeping (not fairy dusting!). Then we had half hour of game time where we finished 1 game and started about 1/3 of game 2. Continue reading

2 Views of Hopewell Rocks

To see Hopewell Rocks in its full beauty, we planned our trip so we could see it both at low tide and at high tide. Two very different experiences, but I preferred the low tide view more because you could see the landscape in a more panoramic view, and we got to walk around however we wanted!

At low tide I felt we could really see more of the rock formations and I just love seeing what kinds of animals and faces the rock formations look like (like cloud watching)! Continue reading

I went to BATL.

I wanted to have my birthday at BATL (Backyard Axe Throwing League) this year. I even had a great name thought out for my event – Whitney’s Birthday BATL.  Not very creative, but it sounded badass in my mind, okay? However, Jeremy (though to no fault of his own lol, still love you bro.) stole my thunder and had his birthday there before me!!!

One main reason as to why I wanted to have my birthday at BATL is that you can have an event for up to 40 people. So nobody gets left out! And it’s also great practice for if you are like me, obsessed with The Walking Dead and feel the need to be prepared for any zombie apocalypse that may come. Continue reading

Dragonboat Season 2014

Dragon boat season has finally come to an end. And we definitely ended it in a bang winning our 4th medal for the year and finally a Gold one!  In honesty, I feel the season never truly ends since land practice will begin again in late October – which is only about 1 month away.  Let’s cherish those Sunday mornings of sleeping in while we can.
