Cabot Trail

We did a bit of hiking in the East Coast, but my most memorable would have to be at Cabot Trail at Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.  If you are in the area it is one I would definitely recommend – especially Skyline Trail specifically. It is a pretty easy hike only about 7-9km for the full loop with little elevation. And the reward you get at the end is a spectacular cliffside view of the coast from an eagle’s point of view.

Clam Digging in PEI

Looking for an authentic PEI adventure? I was too and what I discovered was clam digging!

With Experience PEI, we joined their Beachcomber’s Clam Boil  activity ($85 CAD + HST).  It was a great hands-on excursion.  We were given a pair of gloves, a shovel, a bucket, and the free range of a beach to scavenge for whatever treasures we could find from mussels, to oysters, and to clams! 2 Views of Hopewell Rocks

To see Hopewell Rocks in its full beauty, we planned our trip so we could see it both at low tide and at high tide. Two very different experiences, but I preferred the low tide view more because you could see the landscape in a more panoramic view, and we got to walk around however we wanted!

At low tide I felt we could really see more of the rock formations and I just love seeing what kinds of animals and faces the rock formations look like (like cloud watching)! Continue reading

St. Martins Sea Caves

Upon researching what there was to do in the east coast, I came across St. Martins Sea Caves (at St. Martins, New Brunswick) which I was wildly excited about. It wasn’t extremely ‘on the way’ but I was able to work it into the itinerary – a perk of being highly involved in the trip planning and logistics!

However, the caves can only be explored during low tide which only happens twice a day! Unluckily for us low tide on that day was around 6am… Continue reading

East Coast Trip – Quebec

This summer, I went on my very first REAL road trip with friends – to Eastern Canada!! The last time I visited The Maritimes was probably back around third grade with my parents. I cannot remember anything about it – except for my parents giggling to themselves secretly about a rock at Hopewell Rocks that looked a bit inappropriate. Their defense when I brought it up to them recently, was that the tour guide pointed it out to them first. Embarking on this journey with me were Alicia, Crystal, James, Steve and Thomas. You’ll catch glimpses of them in the blog posts and photos to come 🙂

Our one week trip was meticulously planned out and jam packed with various activities (mostly hikes and must-go-to restaurants); going from Toronto –> Montreal/Quebec City –> New Brunswick –> PEI –> Nova Scotia Continue reading
